Barrington Stage Company is looking for high school students aged 13-19 for 15 roles in this summer’s youth theatre production of High School Musical 2.

Auditions will be held on Friday, April 3, from 6 to 9p.m., and Saturday, April 4, from 10a.m. to 6p.m.at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, located at 27 East Street, Pittsfield.

Callbacks will be held on Sunday, April 5, from noon to 6p.m.

All actors must act, sing, and move well. Those auditioning should prepare 2 songs – one ballad and one up tempo (Broadway, pop or legit music). Songs from High School Musical 2 are welcome. An accompanist will be provided, but please bring sheet music in the appropriate key.

BSC is also looking for 1 adult male to play the country club owner in HSM2 who will also sing with the ensemble as needed.

The production begins rehearsals on June 23 and will be presented July 15 through August 16 at the First Congregational Church. Performers must commit to the rehearsal and performance schedule and are PAID a weekly stipend. BSC’s Youth Theatre production models its MainStage and as such performers sign a contract for this important commitment.

BSC’s Youth Theatre program is designed to extend the professionalism of BSC’s Mainstage to local youth. Student actors and technicians sign a contract and receive a weekly stipend. Under a professional director and choreographer, the students mount a production that is presented for a five-week run. This extended run teaches the students the discipline and spontaneity necessary to repeat a performance 45 times in five weeks.

For more information or to schedule an audition call Cynthia Quiñones, Director of Education at (413) 499-5446 x 118, or email at cquinones@barringtonstageco.org.
