ZANNA, DON’T! - THE MUSIC AND MAGIC BEGINS AT THE THEATER BARN

Posted July 24, 2009

The Theater Barn continues their “Summer of Love” on Thursday night, July 30, 2009 with the first musical of the season, ZANNA, DON’T!, a funny and charming musical fairy tale with a Book, Music and Lyrics by Tim Acito. ZANNA, DON’T! opened in March of 2003 at The John Houseman Theater and was nominated for Best Off-Broadway Musical. With additional book and lyrics by Alexander Dinelaris, it has played all over the USA and received its London Premiere in May of 2009.

It's the beginning of the school year at Heartsville High, and Zanna, the school's magical matchmaker, is as determined as ever to make sure everyone in town is happily paired up. When the high school football team captain falls for an unsuspecting, over achieving student, it turns the town upside down and changes the world forever. The energetic and upbeat, “feel good” score is as refreshing as it is entertaining. It was perhaps best described by New York critic Michael Feingold as "a gay-is-good musical that crusades for heterosexuals' right to love each other."

Directed and choreographed by Bert Bernardi, (of last season’s runaway hit, Musical of Musicals, and Urinetown, among a dozen others) and musically directed by Victoria Casella, the cast includes Theater Barn alumni Megan Rozak and seven young and talented new comers to The Theater Barn stage: Matt Densky, Jeffrey Dinan, Kyle Metzger, Nisa Ari, Nicole DiMattei, Steve Cardona and Geoff Lutz.

ZANNA, DON’T! runs through Sunday, August 9th at the fully air conditioned Theater Barn with performances on Thursdays and Fridays at 8 PM, Saturdays at 5 PM & 8:30 PM and Sunday matinees at 2 PM. Still the best deal in the Berkshire area, tickets are affordably priced at $22.00 for all evening performances, and $20.00 for the Sunday matinee.
