Schenectady, NY--- Proctors announced the shows for the 2009-2010 Key Private Bank Broadway Series Thursday April 9, 2009 at 10 a.m.

The 2009-2010 Key Private Bank Broadway Series at Proctors showcases some of the best shows from Broadway, The Color Purple, October 13- October 18; The 39 Steps, November 17- November 22; Wicked, December 9- January 3; Spring Awakening, February 16- February 21; and South Pacific, April 14 – April 18.

The Key Private Bank Broadway Series consists of one ticket to each of the following shows: The Color Purple, The 39 Steps, Wicked, Spring Awakening, and South Pacific.

SPECIAL SUMMER ENGAGEMENT:

Rent is a rock musical, with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's opera “La Bohème.” Winner of a Tony Award® and a Pulitzer Prize, Rent was one of the first Broadway musicals to feature lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender characters. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Alphabet City in the thriving days of the Bohemian East Village, under the shadow of AIDS. Starring Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal from the original cast, Rent will be presented July 28 – August 2. Single tickets will go on sale to the public on Friday, May 1 at 10 A.M.

BROADWAY:

This 2-time Tony® and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of 4), an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers and some good old-fashioned romance! In The 39 Steps, a man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she's a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization called "The 39 Steps" is hot on the man's trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale! The 39 Steps amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure!

The national tour of WICKED has “cast quite a spell” (Washington Post) throughout North America. Winner of three Tony Awards® and a Grammy, Wicked is the untold story of the Witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz. One – born with emerald green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.

Winner of 8 Tony Awards® including Best Musical of 2007, Spring Awakening, celebrates the unforgettable journey from youth to adulthood with power, poignancy and passion. It is a coming-of-age story that takes place in a provincial German town in the late nineteenth-century, and shows the consequences of living in a repressive society. Teenagers will easily identify with the characters onstage. Spring Awakening is the groundbreaking fusion of morality, sexuality and Rock and Roll that has awakened Broadway. It contains mature content.

Set on a tropical island during World War II, South Pacific tells the sweeping romantic story of two couples -- US Navy nurse Nellie Forbush and French plantation owner Emile de Becque and Navy Airman Joe Cable and a young local native girl Liat -- and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of the war and by their own prejudices. Considered by many the finest musical ever written, South Pacific won seven 2008 Tony Awards®.
