CAMBRIDGE, NY (July 17, 2009) – The Theatre Company at Hubbard Hall (TCHH) announces Shakespeare’s hallmark summer comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as its tenth annual free Shakespeare touring production to area parks and historical sites in upstate New York and southern Vermont. The live outdoor production, directed by TCHH artistic director Kevin McGuire, will tour the region from July 23 through July 30. The performances, which begin nightly at 7:00 p.m., are free and open to the public.

The touring schedule and locations are as follows:
Thurs. 7/23— Hildene Lawn, Manchester, VT;
Sat. 7/25-- Crandall Park, Glens Falls NY;
Sun. 7/26-- Cambridge Guest Home, Cambridge NY;
Mon. 7/27—The Commons, Greenwich NY;
Tues. 7/28— Park McCullough House, North Bennington VT;
Wed., 7/29-- Georgi Museum, Shushan NY;
and Thurs. 7/30-- Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs NY.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream revolves around the adventures of four young lovers, a group of amateur actors and their interactions with the fairies who inhabit a moonlit forest. The story takes place in Midsummer and is a bewitching farce featuring Hermia, Lysander, Helena and Demetrius. Their romantic intrigues are confused and complicated still further by entering the forest where Oberon, the King of the Fairies and his Queen, Titania, preside. Puck is a major character who is full of mischief and tricks. Other visitors to the enchanted forest include Bottom the weaver and his friends Snug, Snout, Quince and Flute, the amateur dramatists who want to rehearse their terrible but hilarious version of the play, Pyramus and Thisbe.

TCHH company members Mariah Sanford-White and Michael Maloney will star as Helena and Demetrius, with Charlotte Pines and Ryan Barry as Helena and Lysander, Anastasia Saterthwaite as Titania, Steve Guice as Oberon, Clint Johnson as Puck, and Benjie White as Bottom. Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets and folding chairs to enjoy a beguiling evening of outdoor Shakespeare that will be fun for the entire family.
