Barrington Stage Company presents "The Longing and the Short of It: Songs by Daniel Maté" on Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8 at 8:00pm at BSC's Stage 2 on Linden Street in Pittsfield.

Maté’s songs are a combination of classical music, jazz and rock made thrilling by his unique voice, at once heartfelt and humorous. He makes dazzlingly audacious choices that are always surprising yet inevitable. Not to be missed.

From Daniel Maté:
“The Longing and the Short of It is a collection of my (old and new) songs. Curiously, taken together, they all seem to be related to the theme of longing (and wanting and waiting and wishing and hoping and scheming and...) Which makes the whole thing feel sort of like a song cycle, even though it's mostly just due to the fact that I seem to write about those emotions a lot, whether the song is funny, serious, or in-between.”

Featured performers include Marie-France Arcilla, Heath Calvert, and Jason “SweetTooth” Williams as well as some special guests.

Music direction by Christopher D. Littlefield, leading a great band featuring Carl Oman on bass and Josh Samuels on drums.

All seats: $15 (general admission)
