The Mac-Haydn Theatre - The Happiest Place You Can Be in 2009

Posted February 19, 2008

CHATHAM, NY – The Mac-Haydn Theatre in Chatham, NY, is starting their second 40 years with a season that's full of fun, good times and happiness, not to mention a whole lot of great songs and dancing. The whole family will enjoy Mac-Haydn's 2009 professional musical theatre schedule.

The season begins on May 28 with High Society hi-jinks, as a Long Island socialite tries to plan her wedding around the antics of a torch carrying ex-husband and smitten society reporter. The plot is full of comic complications, the laughs never stop and the score is a Cole Porter hit parade: Ridin' High, I Love Paris, Just One Of Those Things, It's All Right With Me, Well Did You Evah?, True Love and more. High Society performs through June 7.

One of Mac-Haydn's most popular shows ever is next on the list, and it's guaranteed fun for all ages: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat! No other show has as many song styles as Webber & Rice's light-heartedly delightful musical tale of the Biblical story of the coat of many colors. The whole family will love Go, Go, Go Joseph, One More Angel In Heaven, Close Every Door, and Any Dream Will Do. Joseph performs June 11 through 21.

Next, an endearing favorite that was a survey favorite for 2008 audiences, Hello, Dolly! Dolly Gallagher Levi is back where she belongs, putting her hand in to create a merry, mixed-up romp, where everyone meets their match at the end. Jerry Herman songs include Ribbons Down My Back, So Long Dearie, Sunday Clothes, It Only Takes A Moment and of course the inimitable title song Hello, Dolly! See the fun and hear the songs June 29 through July 5.

A very special production that adults and children will all be delighted by is next on the schedule, running for three weeks so everyone can see it at least once! Disney's Beauty and the Beast is a tale as old as time, a charming, romantic, fun and action filled fairy tale for young and old alike to enjoy. The story is a classic, retold in a wonderfully warm, funny and touching musical that you'll want to savor every moment of. Come by yourself, bring the children, borrow some if you want to, but don't miss Disney's Beauty and the Beast! The lively score includes Me, Home, Be Our Guest, Human Again, If I Can't Love Her, Beauty and the Beast. Three weeks, July 9 through 26.

Then, get ready to laugh, cry, and fall in love with Charity Hope Valentine in Sweet Charity, July 30 to August 9. Charity is the girl who always gets 'the fuzzy end of the lollipop', but never stops trying to find love, as her search takes her from a movie star's penthouse to a hippie revival meeting under the Brooklyn Bridge to the top of a ferris wheel! Neil Simon comedy and Cy Coleman songs: Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now, Where Am I Going, I'm A Brass Band team up perfectly in this sweetheart of a show.

Crazy For You is next on The Mac-Haydn Theatre schedule, with an unbeatable combination of Gershwin, Gershwin and more Gershwin. It has a host of favorite Gershwin songs plus laughs and love galore as the non-stop action goes from new York City to Deadrock, Nevada and back again. Just a few of the songs include Bidin' My Time, Someone To Watch Over Me, Embraceable You and I Got Rhythm – featuring over seven minutes of the most thrilling tap-dancing ever! You'd be crazy to miss Crazy For You, August 13 to 23.

The excitement of a World's Fair and the magic of Christmas close the regular Mac-Haydn season, in Meet Me in St. Louis, August 27 through September 6. This heartwarming treasure is filled with family love and fun as the older sisters look for romance and the younger girls stir up their own special mischief. The dandy songs are The Trolley Song, The Boy Next Door, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, Under The Bamboo Tree and the cheery title song are bound to charm every listener.

And wait! There's more! MHT II Productions is planning a show that can't be announced just yet, but we know you'll have a blast with the past when you see and hear it!
