Grant funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

Stockbridge, MA – Berkshire Theatre Festival has received a $10,000 grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council through the Massachusetts Arts Stimulus Program. The Festival had to compete with 142 other applicants to receive one of the 28 grants the program funded. The one-time only grant is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, through an appropriation to the National Endowment for the Arts. The ARRA is meant to safeguard jobs and stimulate the economy, while the appropriation to the NEA is specifically intended to preserve jobs in non-profit arts sectors. The grant is meant to be used to support artist’s positions that are critical to an organization’s artistic mission and may be in jeopardy due to the current economic decline.
